On Katie's behalf I would like to thank everyone for their encouraging words, advice and best wishes for Katie over the last few days at the Nationals. Many club members have either texted her directly, sent messages via Lisa or emailed their support. It really makes a difference and makes her feel she is not on her own. She enjoyed the experience this year and the credit for this goes to Lisa who supported her every step of the way. So a special thanks to Lisa and also to all those who stepped in to cover training for Lisa to allow her to be with Katie.

Stockport Meet 27- 29th Nov - Results
Some very good swims this weekend at the Stockport Open, with many swimmers PBing and adding to the growing list of regional qualifying times. (tables to be updated later in the week)
New Regional qualifying times are as follows: Lloyd Austin notched up RQT's on the 50 Free, 50 Fly, 50 Brs and 100 Free, Issy Centeleghe added RQT's in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Fly, Shannon Friel added the 50 Free, Megan Friel the 100 Free, Adam Frost claimed RQT's in the 200 Free, 50 Brs, 100 Brs and also matched the RQT for the 200 Back while Katie Bennett added RQT's for the 200 Free and 200 Back.
In addition Ben Arkle narrowly missed out on the 200 Brs RQT with a time of 3:19.46 (needed 3:18.6), and Ellie Riches just missed out on the 50 Free (29.63, needed 29.6) and 50 Back (33.57, needed 33.0).
Special mentions go to Aimee Mather who PB'd in every event she swam; and Katie Bennett, who lowered her 400 IM NQT qualifying time to 5:00.90, just missed out on NQT's in the 200 IM (2:24.04, needed 2:23.57) and the 200 Fly (2:23.21, needed 2:22.37), and also broke the 4:30 barrier for her 400 Free, and the 2:10 barrier for her 200 Free. |
DSE Naonals Ponds Forge 2010
Sam Whitworth and Megan Short both competed in the DSE ( Disability Sports Events) Nationals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield this weekend.
Megan got a bronze in the 100 breast and knocked 5s off her PB and around 0.5s off her 100m Free PB (in the 1st leg of the 400m Free Relay). Megan also swam the Breaststroke leg of the 400 Medley relay (beat her PB here as well).
Sam took part in the 100 Free, 50 Breast, 100 Back, 50 Back, 100 Breast & 50 Free.
The North West team (of which they're part) won !!! the overall competition - Congratulations to both for an excellent weekends competition. |
